About the Founder
Andreas Evangelou is a young entrepreneur and the founder and creator of ShipFinance.gr, a news portal dedicated to the Greek and Cypriot shipping and financial community. Shipping runs in the family: he is the third generation in the industry, grandson of Ioannis Tsakpinis and son of George Evangelou, whose own success as a shipbroker — building his company, Gordian, from the ground up — has been Andreas's defining inspiration. ShipFinance.gr is his first project toward reincarnating that legacy: a Greek-Cypriot platform built to connect the shipping and financial communities of Greece and Cyprus. A driven mind emerging from the Cyprus University of Technology, Andreas built ShipFinance.gr on a simple conviction: that the maritime and financial worlds of Greece and Cyprus deserve a sharp, independent voice of their own. Blending a deep interest in shipping and finance with the instincts of a new generation of digital media, he set out to connect industry leaders, investors, and readers through timely news and insight — turning a family legacy and a student's ambition into a growing platform at the crossroads of two of the region's most vital industries.
